Speaker Biographies

Peter Harris, Partner, Clifford Chance
Peter Harris, a Partner in Clifford Chance's Tokyo office who focuses on dispute resolution, public international law, complex risk management and international arbitration. Peter is also a member of Clifford Chance's ESG Leadership Group.

 

Michael van Zyl, Associate Director, Control Risks
Michael van Zyl, an Associate Director in Control Risks’ Tokyo office, who focuses on corporate investigations and governance consulting for Japan and Korea. Michael’s recent projects include analysis of ESG activism in Japan within the context of the country’s corporate governance reforms and increased foreign investment.

 

Matthew Ball, Counsel, Clifford Chance
Mathhew Ball, a Counsel in Clifford Chance's Tokyo office, who focuses on international debt and equity capital markets transactions, including, MTNs, convertible bonds, equity offerings and structured finance, with a focus on ESG products, risks and regulation.

 

Chihiro Ashizawa, Counsel, Clifford Chance
Chihiro Ashizawa, a Counsel (Japanese bengoshi) and heads the Capital Markets (Japanese Law) practice in Clifford Chance's Tokyo office, who focuses on capital markets and securities act.  Chihiro advises clients internationally and locally as they incorporate ESG into business strategies and implement ESG in operations, supply chains and business relationships throughout value chains.
