Regulations on the activities of foreign banks in the major jurisdictions

Mr. Naohiko Matsuo, Attorney-at-Law, Nishimura & Asahi, Visiting Professor of Law, Graduate School of Law, The University of Tokyo 

Professor Matsuo will present activities permitted by foreign banks under the banking regulations in Japan. The discussion will include:

 

The scope of activities permitted to foreign banks without obtaining a banking license; and
Regulations on a licensed branch of a foreign bank which acts on behalf of the foreign bank's overseas locations (foreign bank agency business).
