Dr. Kim Schumacher will be giving a presentation in English on understanding the risks and opportunities from Sustainable Finance and ESG
The presentation will cover key aspects of sustainable finance and ESG and the associated risks and opportunities for financial services firms including;

- Transitional Risks: Regulatory challenges and stranded assets
- ESG and sustainable finance in Japan
- Opportunities and Threats: Future outlook on the Japanese and international investment environments
Dr Kim Schumacher is a Lecturer in Sustainable Finance and ESG at the School of Environment and Society, Tokyo Institute of Technology. His research focuses on ESG data and impact metrics, sustainable finance frameworks, green bonds, natural capital valuation, ecosystem services, renewable energy project development and TCFD disclosure. In addition, he is an Honorary Research Associate of the Environmental Interactions as well as Economy and Society Research clusters at the School of Geography and the Environment, University of Oxford.
He is also a consultant for the Luxembourg Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development providing expertise on green bonds and non-financial disclosure. He has conducted sustainable finance research at the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment, University of Oxford.
He is a member of the ISO Technical Committees on Sustainable Finance and Environmental Management and the Technical Working Groups of the Climate Disclosure Standards Board (CDSB), Climate Bonds Initiative, ICMA Green Bond Principles, Green Finance Network Japan and is an IPCC Expert Reviewer for the AR6-WGIII Report chapter on Investment and Finance. He holds a PhD degree in Environmental Science from the University of Tokyo (2017) and Masters degree in Environmental Law and Policy from UC Berkeley (2012).
