Summary:

We are delighted to welcome Mr. Satoshi Ikeda, Chief Sustainable Finance Officer at the Financial Services Agency (“FSA”) who will be speaking to us about aiming for carbon neutrality, FSA initiatives, and expectations for the financial services industry.

The presentation will include the following:

• Global/local overviews, background and discussions on sustainable finance

• FSA sustainable finance initiatives and activities (collaboration with other ministries, etc.)

• How banks and securities firms can support FSA initiatives

Mr. Satoshi IKEDA, Chief Sustainable Finance Officer, FSA

In March 2019, the FSA created the position for Chief Sustainable Finance Officer (CSFO), to plan and coordinate the promotion of sustainable finance internally and globally.  Satoshi Ikeda was appointed and has been serving as the first CSFO.

In this capacity, he covers a wide range of issues concerning sustainable finance which include aligning private finance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), promoting TCFD disclosures by business corporations and financial institutions alike, representing the FSA for the Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS) and serving as Co-chair of the Workstream on ESG data and ratings of the IOSCO Sustainability Taskforce. He is also acting as Vice-chair of the Impact Investing Roundtable co-organized by GSG National Advisory Board of Japan and the FSA.
