Summary:

The adoption of emerging technologies across the global financial services ecosystem continues to drive considerable benefits for institutions and consumers. However, it also introduces new risks, some of which may threaten the stability of the financial system if not properly identified and managed. To better understand these risks and identify approaches to address and mitigate them, the World Economic Forum and Deloitte consulted over 100 financial services and technology experts in the development of a new report, Pushing through undercurrents. This new study explores the implications of technology-driven risk originating in five sectors (banking, capital markets, payments, insurance and investment management), and investigates the regional implications of critical cross-sector risks.

This presentation will:

  • Share the outcomes and implications at the intersection of strategy, innovation, and risk management focused mainly on Banking and Capital Markets
  • Discuss focused mitigation strategies that can support Banks and Broker Dealers operating in Japan

Rob Galaski - Vice Chair & Industry Managing Partner at Deloitte

Rob Galaski is Vice Chair at Deloitte with significant global leadership experience, having served as Deputy Global Leader, Financial Services; Global Managing Partner, Banking & Capital Markets; Managing Partner for the Americas Region, and Managing Partner, Financial Services for Canada.

As a practitioner, Rob is a principal advisor working with boards and executive management teams to shape transformational strategies. Rob’s work is global in nature, having served clients in twenty-seven countries. Rob is an influential voice on the interconnectivity of issues shaping the financial services industry (strategy, policy, technology, innovation), a highly regarded speaker and author of numerous publications.

Rob serves as Executive Advisor to the World Economic Forum on the Future of Financial Services, where he has led groundbreaking work on topics such as Disruption, Artificial Intelligence, and Technology Risk. In recognition of his contributions to the global financial services industry, Rob has been recognized by the IIF as a Global Top 40 Under 40.

Ayesha Madan- Senior Consultant, Deloitte Canada’s Artificial Intelligence Practice

Ayesha Madan is a Senior Consultant in Deloitte Canada’s Artificial Intelligence Practice. She was seconded to the World Economic Forum as a Project Fellow in 2022 to research the role that technology plays in creating and mitigating systemic risk within financial services.

She has more than six years of experience in designing and delivering products for Financial Crown Corporations and insurance clients and defining data and analytics strategies for financial services institutions.
