Last Wednesday, December 4th, IBA Japan hosted its 40th Annual General Meeting on December 4th, bringing together over 200 of our esteemed members and distinguished guests to reflect on the past year’s activities and explore the path forward for our association and the international financial community in Japan.
Immediately following an AGM which yet again demonstrated the strong and unanimous support from the Association’s membership – now enlarged with a new Asset Management Sector launched in October -, members were honored to hear from Commissioner Hideki Ito of the Financial Services Agency, whose insightful speech emphasized the importance of collaboration in navigating the evolving financial landscape. Commissioner Ito welcomed the orientations taken by IBA Japan in its three main sectors of Banking, Securities and Asset Management, pointing out that they match many of the priorities of Japan’s authorities and encouraging continued dialogue and collaboration.

The reception that followed commenced with a warm and thoughtful toast by Mr. Hiromi Yamaji, President & CEO of the Japan Exchange Group, setting a positive tone for the evening’s discussions and networking, in the presence of a large number of senior representatives of the Bank of Japan, FSA, JPX, JSDA, JBA, JITA, JIAA, Japanese financial institutions and foreign embassies.

Looking to the future, IBA Japan is committed to addressing the challenges and opportunities facing the financial industry as a whole. By fostering collaboration across banking, securities, and other sectors, we aim to support innovation, resilience, and sustainable growth within Japan’s financial ecosystem.
